How it works

Total job cost

Worker-hours (onsite + travel) × loaded labour rate, plus materials, equipment, fuel, allocated overhead, other costs and payment fees. All excluding GST you can claim back.

Contribution & margin

Contribution = quote excl. GST − total job cost. Margin = contribution ÷ quote. It's not net profit: income tax and costs you haven't allocated aren't included.

Margin isn't markup

A $100 cost sold at $150 is a 50% markup (on cost) but a 33.3% margin (on price). Suggested quote = cost ÷ (1 − target margin − % fee), never below your call-out.

Results are estimates based only on the numbers you enter. Sample jobs use fictional, illustrative figures — not industry rates.
